OVERVIEW: Dr. Jessica Rosenthal is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in treating adults struggling with anxiety, OCD, and difficult life transitions. Her approach draws flexibly from advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other mindfulness-based therapies. She has specific expertise in the assessment and treatment of all manifestations of OCD using Exposure and Response Prevention. She also frequently works with new parents adjusting to parenthood, including those struggling with anxiety and intrusive thoughts during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.
Dr. Jessica Rosenthal is a licensed clinical psychologist and co-founder of Flatiron CBT. She has extensive experience treating anxiety, OCD, and related concerns. She provides highly individualized treatment in an environment that is warm, nonjudgmental and collaborative. She is passionate about working to alleviate the fear, shame, and guilt that OCD-sufferers often experience. Dr. Rosenthal also frequently works with new parents navigating anxiety during the transition to parenthood, in particular those struggling with postpartum anxiety and postpartum OCD.
Dr. Rosenthal began her training at Yale University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with Distinction. She went on to earn her doctorate from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University/Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Montefiore Medical Center and a two-year post-doctoral fellowship at The Reeds Center for Anxiety, OCD, and Related Disorders in Manhattan. She has also trained in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings across the New York City area, including Northwell Health’s Zucker Hillside Hospital and Jacobi Medical Center. In her various clinical roles, Dr. Rosenthal has worked with adolescents, adults, and families, and has led groups for adults with mood and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Rosenthal’s approach integrates theory and skills from advanced training in evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other mindfulness-based therapies. She has specific expertise in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). She regularly treats a wide range of OCD themes and supports clients struggling with physical and mental compulsions. She has also received specialized training in perinatal mental health from both the Seleni Institute in Manhattan and Postpartum Support International. She works with many parents finding their way through the transitions, identity shifts, and highs and lows of parenthood, with a particular focus on anxiety and OCD symptoms during pregnancy and in the postpartum period.
Dr. Rosenthal has served as an Adjunct Clinical Supervisor at Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, Yeshiva University, providing CBT supervision for doctoral students in the Adult Clinical Program. She currently provides supervision and mentorship to early-career psychologists. She is member of the International OCD Foundation and the Women’s Mental Health Consortium. She frequently pursues trainings and workshops to deepen her expertise in treating OCD and related disorders, as well as perinatal anxiety and OCD.
