Dr. Aleena Hay

OVERVIEW: Dr. Aleena Hay is a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatments for OCD and anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social anxiety, and specific phobias. She also works with clients navigating life stressors and transitions. She has specific expertise in Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, working with a wide range of OCD themes. Dr. Hay has extensive experience working with clients struggling with health anxiety, helping individuals manage fears of illness as well as medical phobias. In addition to CBT, Dr. Hay frequently integrates mindfulness-based approaches into her clinical work.

Dr. Aleena Hay is a licensed clinical psychologist at Flatiron CBT.  She specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and OCD in adults and older adolescents, and helps clients navigate difficult life stressors. Dr. Hay has expertise in cognitive behavioral treatment approaches. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Yale University and completed her predoctoral internship at the May Institute. Upon graduating, Dr. Hay completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Boston University Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders.

Dr. Hay has extensive experience providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for anxiety disorders, including panic disorder, social anxiety, and specific phobias. She has specific expertise in Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, and regularly treats a range of OCD themes. Dr. Hay frequently works with individuals struggling with health anxiety and fears of illness, as well as those with phobias related to medical procedures and settings. Additionally, Dr. Hay integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other mindfulness-based approaches into her work.

Dr. Hay aims to create a collaborative, warm, and supportive treatment environment. She individualizes treatment to each client and provides a structured, goal-oriented approach to help clients make positive and meaningful changes as they navigate daily life.   

In addition to her clinical experience, Dr. Hay previously served as a professor of psychology at Moravian University, teaching courses on clinical psychology and human emotion. She also has a vibrant research career where she studies emotion regulation or how we manage our emotions (both by ourselves and with other people). Her teaching and research experience help to ensure that she is always up to date on cutting edge research in psychological treatment.
